CEO quote: “If I want — and I do want — to make Prophesee a global company, we need to succeed in China because it is the most important market for our technology,” Luca Verre, cofounder and CEO of Prophesee, told EE Times Europe.
Holography is another way to look at the road. Many car models now use head-up displays (HUDs) to provide information to drivers and keep their attention on the road, reducing the risk of accidents due to distraction. St-Andrews, Scotland-based Ceres Holographics has showcased a full-scale replication system for producing 1500mm width holographic films in high volume, enabling holographic transparent displays and augmented reality-HUDs (AR-HUD) for windshields.
Light detection and ranging (LiDAR) is the technology that measures the distance from an object by illuminating it with a laser light. At the same time, by scanning the surrounding environment with a very narrow laser beam, a LiDAR can return a high-resolution three-dimensional map. A LiDAR typically includes different components: lasers, photodetectors, beam steering element and read-out integrated circuits (ROICs) with time-of-flight (ToF) capability to measure distance by illuminating a target and analyzing the reflected light.
